Memorial Weekend Events

The weekend is packed with events to commemorate the sacrifice of those who have served our country. The Reedsport Memorial Day Parade will start at 1:30 PM on Sunday, May 26th, 2024, at RCCS and end at Hahn Park, and will feature a wide range of participants, including military units, veterans' organizations, local businesses, and community groups. After the parade, a Memorial Ceremony will be held at Hahn Park to honor our local heroes who have fallen while serving our country.The ceremony will provide an opportunity for the community to come together and pay tribute to the fallen heroes. The event will include a solemn presentation of the colors, a playing of Taps, and a reading of the names of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. We ask all those in attendance to honor those who have fallen with solemn silence during the ceremony. Other events taking place during the weekend include the Second Annual Memorial Show & Shine, Meet, Greet, & Honor with Threadbare Quilters presenting Quilts of Honor, a Veteran's Dinner, a Patriotic Concert, and a Memorial Day Service at the Reedsport Masonic Cemetery.

Memorial Show & Shine

We are pleased to announce the Third Annual Memorial Show & Shine at Hahn Park from 1pm-4pm. All car clubs and other vehicles are welcome to attend no sign-up or entry fees required. We have plenty of parking available and look forward to seeing you there! There's no better place for this event the where the parade ends. After the parade comes to an end we will hold a Memorial Ceremony with the reading of the names at 3pm we encourage all show and shine participants to stay for this ceremony and show your respects for the fallen. After the Show & Shine head on uptown to participate in the other events of the day, Meet, Greet, & Honor at Pacific Auditorium at 4pm, Veteran's Dinner at the First Presbyterian Church from 5pm-6pm, and then back to Pacific Auditorium for a patriotic concert at 6pm.

War Memorial Ceremony

The Reedsport Memorial Weekend Committee invites everyone to join us after the parade for a solemn War Memorial Ceremony to honor and remember our fallen heroes. 

The War Memorial Ceremony is a time to pay tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. The ceremony will start with a paratrooper and will also include the reading of the names of those who have fallen, the tolling of the bells, a color guard, and a bugler playing Taps.

Meet, Greet, & Honor

Meet, Greet, & Honor will feature the Threadbare Quilters presenting Quilts of Honor to veterans, as well as patriotic youth performances by local children.

The Threadbare Quilters will present Quilts of Honor, which are handmade quilts given to veterans as a way to thank them for their service and sacrifice. The patriotic youth performances will showcase the talents of local children as they pay tribute to our country and those who have served it.

Veteran's Dinner

The Reedsport Memorial Weekend Committee invites everyone to join us for the Veterans Dinner, an event to honor and recognize our veterans and active military. 

The Veterans Dinner is free to all attendees, with donations accepted. The event will feature a dinner prepared by the church, as well as artwork by local children as a tribute to our country's veterans and active military.

Patriotic Concert

The Reedsport Memorial Weekend Committee invites everyone to join us for the Patriotic Concert, an event to celebrate our country and honor those who have served in the military. The Patriotic Concert will feature the Siuslaw High School Band who will perform a variety of patriotic songs and other inspiring pieces. Attendees can expect a memorable evening of music and tribute to our nation's heroes.

Salute In Remembrance - American Legion Post 62

The Reedsport Memorial Weekend Committee and American Legion Post 62 are hosting a Memorial Day service to honor and remember those who have served our country. 

The ceremony will include a presentation of colors by the color guard, as well as a bugler playing Taps and a moment of silence to pay tribute to fallen soldiers. The American Legion Post 62 will honor local heroes laid to rest at the cemetery with wreath-laying and a rifle salute.
