Parade Guidelines
Parade Spirit:
Celebrate respectfully: Be mindful of the parade's purpose as a tribute to our heroes.
Embrace the fun: Have a great time and enjoy the festivities!
Safety first: Always prioritize the safety of yourself and others.
Decorations:
Patriotic theme: Decorate your entry in a way that reflects national pride and respect.
Professional presentation: Display a clear and well-made banner identifying your group.
No political statements: This parade honors veterans and service members, so please refrain from political messaging.
Participation:
Arrive early: Be at the designated staging location by 12:30 pm, no later than 1:20 pm.
Street-legal vehicles: Only vehicles meeting legal road requirements can participate.
Special vehicles: ATVs require pre-approval via email (reedsportparade@gmail.com) or phone (503-881-9351).
Treat distribution: Assign walkers to safely hand out treats to the crowd along the route. Walkers must be able to maintain a steady pace for the entire parade.
Animal entries: All animals must be well-trained, properly controlled, and have designated sanitation personnel to clean up after them. Pre-approval is mandatory (email or phone contact details provided).
Traffic regulations: Obey all traffic laws and follow instructions from designated personnel.
Liability: Participants are solely responsible for any damage caused by their entry.
Walking groups: Require pre-approval via email or phone (contact details provided). Members must be able to maintain the parade pace.
Car clubs: Welcome! Please encourage veterans and active military to participate in the parade and rejoin the group at the post-parade event.
Memorial Ceremony:
Show your respect: We require all participants to attend the ceremony at Hahn Park to honor those who served.
Additional points to consider:
Noise restrictions: Be mindful of noise levels to ensure a pleasant experience for everyone.
Alcohol and drugs: Consumption of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited during the parade.
Proper attire: Dress appropriately for the occasion.
