2021 HERO SPOTLIGHT

Gary Stine

At the age of 83, Gary continues to serve three days a week as a volunteer Corrections Officer and Court Bailiff with the Reedsport Police Department. He has served faithfully even throughout the Covid Pandemic.

"I enjoy volunteering because it not only helps me to gain knowledge about issues, but is also a way to give back to the community. There are so many ways to get involved as a volunteer starting with just a couple of hours per month all the way to daily hours. Young adults can benefit from assisting as volunteers from experience in a workplace to discovery of a long term career path. I currently volunteer on a city committee, a local commission, serve the Reedsport Police Department as a Corrections Officer as well as a Court Bailiff. I am also a volunteer trainer/teacher for the Safe Driver program. Volunteers of all ages can serve the community.
